CaminoFinder
Cookies
CaminoFinder uses a small amount of functional storage so the site can remember your language and, if you sign in, your session. It does not use this storage for advertising.
Language cookie
The site sets a cookie named NEXT_LOCALE. It remembers English or Spanish. The page address also shows the language. The cookie is a preference, not a record of your walking.
Sign-in cookie
If you sign in, the browser stores an httpOnly session cookie. In production the name is the secure form of better-auth.session_token. It is limited to this site, uses SameSite=lax, and can last up to 30 days. It is how the server recognizes the session. Signing out ends it. People who never sign in do not receive this cookie.
Planner focus
The My Camino planner can store a short focus marker in sessionStorage under the key mc-focus. It returns you to the same part of the planner. It is not a cookie, it is not sent to other sites, and it is removed after it is read.
Analytics and advertising
CaminoFinder does not set analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or marketing pixels. It does not build an advertising profile from this storage.
Map requests
Interactive maps load style and tiles from MapTiler in your browser. That request goes to MapTiler. CaminoFinder does not set a MapTiler cookie of its own and does not use the map request for advertising.
Choices
You can refuse or delete cookies in your browser. Without the language cookie, you can still open the English or Spanish address directly. Without the session cookie, you cannot stay signed in. CaminoFinder does not show a consent banner, because it does not set analytics or advertising cookies.
