Data sources

CaminoFinder combines data from multiple sources. This page identifies the source and provenance for each kind of data without treating distinct datasets as one claim.

How we handle sources

Source attribution identifies the origin of a data claim; it does not imply that the source endorses CaminoFinder.
CaminoFinder may combine distinct authoritative datasets. Route geometry, populated-place identity, and derived elevation are separate data claims.
Source-specific labels may differ from canonical place names.

Camino Inglés route and stage geometry

Practical walking geometry and source-stage data. It is never a legally definitive or officially prescribed Camino alignment.

Stage distances on the map are measured along this certified source geometry at read time. They are not official FEAACS distances.

MDT05 digital terrain model

MDT05 1ª cobertura (MDT05-cob1) is Spain’s official 5 m digital terrain model, produced by IGN / SCNE and distributed by CNIG.

CaminoFinder uses this dataset to derive approximate stage elevation. It is not official Camino ascent.

The GeoTIFF does not include an ISO verticalCRS, so orthometric heights are treated as approximate.

Estimated walking time is planning guidance calculated from mapped stage distance and certified ascent. Breaks, descent, fitness, weather and surface are not included.

Official IGR núcleo identity and longitude/latitude attributes from the Núcleos de población collection. Its MultiPolygon geometry is not stored.

Turismo de Galicia accommodation registry

Accommodation records on the Camino Inglés come from the Turismo de Galicia / Xunta de Galicia REAT registry, dataset 0022, as used by CaminoFinder. Registry data as of 1 October 2026. The public list includes only records that pass CaminoFinder’s publication and evidence checks.

CaminoFinder associates qualifying registered establishments with Camino Inglés stages using each establishment’s registered coordinates and the certified Camino geometry. The distance shown is straight-line geodesic proximity. It is not walking distance, walking time, proof of practical access, or a recommendation.

A registry record does not establish current availability, booking availability, whether the establishment is open, or price.

The registry extract is periodic. CaminoFinder does not treat it as a live booking register.

CaminoFinder-derived straight-line proximity

Turismo de Galicia supplies the registry facts. CaminoFinder derives the straight-line distance to the certified Camino geometry. That distance is not a Turismo de Galicia measurement.
