Leaving Santiago de Compostela

This is where CaminoFinder’s published routes end. The place guide covers the Pilgrim Office and the Compostela. This page is only how to leave.

After the cathedral and the Office, onward travel is by air from Santiago-Rosalía de Castro, or by train and coach from the Daniel Castelao intermodal station. The Office on Rúa Carretas is not the station.

Leaving Santiago

By train

Renfe’s Santiago–Daniel Castelao station is on rúa do Hórreo. Adif locates it at C/ Hórreo 75A. It handles conventional and high-speed services, including the Atlantic axis toward A Coruña and Vigo and the Ourense axis toward Madrid. Check current trains on Renfe.

By bus

The bus terminal sits in the same Daniel Castelao intermodal station, on Rúa Clara Campoamor, connected with the railway station. TUSSA has managed that bus station since the 2021 move into the intermodal building. ALSA is among the companies listed there. Check ALSA or the Galicia planner for the day you leave.

By air

Santiago-Rosalía de Castro Airport (SCQ) lies about ten kilometres northeast of the city, in the municipalities of Santiago de Compostela, O Pino and Boqueixón. Aena lists Tralusa line 6A between the airport and Santiago, and other coaches from the airport toward Lugo, A Coruña and Sobrado. Check Aena and TUSSA for the city airport bus on your day.

Before you go

  • Allow a city transfer between the old town or Pilgrim Office and the intermodal station. They are not the same place.
  • Use the current intermodal names (Daniel Castelao, Hórreo, Clara Campoamor). Older plaza names on some portals may not match the 2021 bus terminal.
