Getting to Ferrol

Ferrol is one of two Camino Inglés starts published by CaminoFinder. It is not A Coruña, and the two approaches stay distinct until they meet later on the route.

Ferrol has a railway station and a bus station. It does not have its own airport. The useful gateways are A Coruña (Alvedro) and Santiago-Rosalía de Castro. Santiago is the official Galician reference city for reaching this start.

Getting there

By train

Renfe’s Ferrol station is on Avenida de Compostela. It has long-distance and medium-distance services, and the Ferrol–Ortigueira Cercanías line. Check current trains on Renfe. That Cercanías line is not the Camino walking line.

By bus

The bus station is on Paseo da Estación. Galicia’s official Camino portal records a coach relationship from Santiago to Ferrol, and between A Coruña and Ferrol. Check current services on the Galicia planner, Monbus or ALSA.

By air

Fly to A Coruña Airport (LCG) or Santiago-Rosalía de Castro (SCQ). From LCG, Aena lists an Alsa airport–city bus; from there you continue to Ferrol by coach or rail. From SCQ, Aena lists the city bus into Santiago; the official Camino portal then treats Santiago as the reference city for the Ferrol coach.

Before you go

  • The certified Camino Inglés walk from Ferrol begins at the Curuxeiras quays, not at the railway or bus station. Allow a local move across the city.
  • Keep this start separate from A Coruña. Shared regional airports do not make them one beginning.

Credential & Compostela

CaminoFinder’s certified walk from Ferrol to Santiago is about 112.5 km. The Pilgrim Office currently asks walkers for 100 continuous kilometres on a recognized Camino. The mapped distance exceeds that walking-distance figure. Distance alone does not grant the Compostela.

The Office decides purpose, and the evidence in a Pilgrim Credential and its stamps. Carry a Pilgrim Credential. In Ferrol, a Cathedral-authorized source is the Obispado de Mondoñedo-Ferrol, Domus Ecclesiae. Confirm current opening on the official list — this page does not publish hours, prices, or availability.

In Santiago, the Pilgrim Office issues the Compostela in person. Stamp rules and other requirements are on the Office pages.
